Seth Binzer, the lead singer of late-1990s rap-rock band Crazy Town, has died at the age of 49. Binzer, who went by the stage name Shifty Shellshock, was best known for the band's hit song "Butterfly." The news of his death was confirmed by his label, Capitol Records, on Friday.

A Promising Career Cut Short

Binzer was born in Los Angeles on August 23, 1974. He formed Crazy Town in 1995 with DJ AM and guitarist Epic Mazur. The band released their debut album, "The Gift of Game," in 1999, which went double platinum and spawned the hit single "Butterfly." Crazy Town continued to release music throughout the 2000s, but they never quite achieved the same level of success as they did with their debut album.

In recent years, Binzer had been struggling with addiction and mental health issues. He was arrested several times for drug possession and was in and out of rehab. In 2022, he was diagnosed with schizophrenia.

Binzer's death is a tragic loss for the music world. He was a talented musician and songwriter, and his music touched the lives of many people. He will be deeply missed.
