Jasper, Alberta - Authorities have issued an urgent evacuation order for the town of Jasper and surrounding areas due to the imminent threat of a wildfire burning south of the town. Approximately 5,000 residents and visitors have been directed to evacuate immediately for their safety.
The evacuation order was issued by the Municipal District of Jasper on Monday afternoon, and includes the town of Jasper, the hamlet of Fitzhugh, and all campgrounds and backcountry areas within the Jasper National Park.
